Ann McKee Austin
Ann McKee Austin is the grandaughter of E. Lyndon McKee Sr. who purchased the High Hampton estate in 1922 from heirs of Caroline Hampton and Dr. William Halsted. She spent every childhood summer at High Hampton, riding horses, swimming in the lake, climbing Rock and Chimney Top Mountains, and later working in many capacities at the Inn.
In the mid-1980s she joined her late brother A. William McKee in creating the Wade Hampton Golf Club on family property to the south of the Inn. Later she joined him as a leading broker for estate properties on the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau.
Ann is an active historic preservationist. She co-founded the Cashiers Historical Society and spearheaded the campaign to acquire and preserve the 1850 Zachary-Tolbert House, now on the National Register of Historic Places. As a founder of the Village Conservancy, she led the campaign to preserve the McKinney Meadow at the entrance to the Hwy.107 historic corridor. More recently, she created the High Hampton History Center, housed in the old caddie house at High Hampton to preserve and protect the history of this legendary resort.
Ann joined Hampton Realty in 2024.
